One of the best preserved temple sites in Egypt is the Dendera Temple Complex, situated 90 minutes north of Luxor on the point of land surrounded by the Nile River. Traveling a further 90 minutes along the Nile reaches one of the oldest cities of ancient Egypt, Abydos. Here is found a necropolis for the earliest Egyptian rulers as well as many cemetaries from later periods surrounding the temples found here.
